The three dimensions

There are three axises, one for each dimension in open space, called and defined as X, Y and Z. Rotation is made around the chosen axis and movement is executed along it. Let us look at some examples.

The X-axis is most commonly used to set the pitch of the turret, among other things. If you want to move the barrel backwards, you should move along the Z-axis.

The Y-Axis is used to aim horisontally at objects, relative to the position of the unit. If you want to move the turret sideways, the X-axis will help

The Z-Axis isn't used especially often in terms of animations, but in the rare cases that you want to rotate your tank sideways, the Z-axis will be there for you. If you noticed airplanes roll around when making maneuvers, you can rest assured that they use the holy Z as well.
